NORFOLK, Va. (Sept. 8, 2017) Seaman Donovan Zeanah heaves a mooring line onto the fantail of the amphibious assault ship USS Iwo Jima (LHD 7) as it departs Naval Station Norfolk, Va., in preparation for potential humanitarian assistance and disaster relief operations. The preparations ensure Iwo Jima is ready to respond to any requests to bolster Northern Command’s support of FEMA’s assistance to federal, state and local authorities’ ongoing relief efforts in the aftermath of Hurricane Irma.
