After unloading the last of hay bales to stranded cattle, Sgt. First Class Roy Chandler III, a Soldier assigned to Bravo Company, 1st Battalion, 169th Aviation Regiment, sits on the back of the CH-47 Chinook helicopter Sep. 3, 2017. “When it’s all said and done, it doesn’t matter what race, religion or even what football team they pull for,” said Chandler. “We all come together as free Americans to help each other. Roll Tide!” The Department of Defense is conducting Defense Support of Civil Authorities operations in response to the effects of Hurricane Harvey. DSCA operations are part of the DoD’s response capability to assist civilian responders in saving lives, relieving human suffering and mitigating property damage in response to a catastrophic disaster.
