Hay bales are thrown from the back of a CH-47 Chinook helicopter onto patches of land that are above flooding levels near Hampshire, Texas in an attempt to get feed to cattle that have been stranded as a result of Hurricane Harvey on Sep. 3, 2017. The Department of Defense is conducting Defense Support of Civil Authorities operations in response to the effects of Hurricane Harvey. DSCA operations are part of the DoD’s response capability to assist civilian responders in saving lives, relieving human suffering and mitigating property damage in response to a catastrophic disaster.
