170830-N-ZS023-069 INDIAN OCEAN (Aug. 30, 2017) Damage Controlman 2nd Class Patrick Tandem, a native of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, assigned to the engineering department aboard the amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6), tests a portable electric access reserve system in the ship’s hangar bay in prepapration for a damage control training presentation. America, part of the America Amphibious Ready Group, with embarked 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit, is operating in the Indo-Asia Pacific region to strengthen partnerships and serve as a ready-response force for any type of contingency.
