U.S. Army soldiers from Task Force Red Currahee’s 4th Platoon, Company A, 1st Battalion, 506th Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division, stand with the sign dedicating the new trauma center to a Task Force Currahee medic at Forward Operating Base Sharana March 1. The Spc. Jordan Byrd Trauma Center is named for the medic who died in Paktika province Oct. 13, 2010 while administering life-saving medical treatment to a wounded soldier while shielding him with his own body from direct fire from insurgents.
