Marcus Mapes, a native of Hemet, California, assigned to the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit aboard the amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6), replaces the digital video wiring of an AV-8B Harrier assigned to Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 161 (Reinforced) in the ship’s hangar bay as part of regular scheduled maintenance. America, part of the America Amphibious Ready Group, with embarked 15th MEU, is operating in the Indo-Asia Pacific region to strengthen partnerships and serve as a ready-response force for any type of contingency.
