Coast Guard Master Chief Petty Officer Andrea Martynowski covers a brief history of strides the Coast Guard has lead in regards to women’s equality during a belated Women’s Day celebration Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2017, aboard the Coast Guard Cutter Healy in the southern Chukchi Sea.
The celebration included several members of the crew sharing historical facts and points of interest in relation to women’s equality with their peers, covering voting laws, notable firsts for women throughout history, the amplification of certain trends when applying the Bechdel test and some of the differences in being a woman in the military as compared to in the civilian work environment.
