Morgan Busby (left), a research fisheries biologist with the National Oceanic an Atmospheric Administration, and Coast Guard Chief Petty Officer William Winegar, a marine science technician aboard the Coast Guard Cutter Healy, discuss operations Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2017, after they gathered plankton samples with bongo nets along distributed biological observatory region three in the southern Chukchi Sea.
In addition to scientific support missions, the Healy is also unique in that it is the only unit in the Coast Guard where members of the MST rate are regularly involved in and fill various rolls on deck.
