Retired U.S. Army Master Sgt. Leroy Petry, a recipient of the Medal of Honor, speaks with Senior Master Sgt. Khristian Kirchhofer, 455th Expeditionary Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, at Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan, Aug. 10, 2017. Wounded warriors visited Bagram Airfield as part of Operation Proper Exit, which gives service members a chance to go back to the place where they were injured and gives them closure. During their time at Bagram Airfield, the warriors received the opportunity to meet with pilots and maintainers, the Airmen who provide close-air-support in situations where coalition forces are pinned down by the enemy and need to evacuate injured troops.
