The Pearl Harbor Starbase Atlantis Program is part of the Department of Defense sponsored Starbase Atlantis Pensacola, Fla. program that will graduate its 100,000th student on Feb. 8. The Pearl Harbor program has contributed more than 7,000 students to the overall program graduation since it's start in 2002.
Starbase Atlantis is the U.S. Navy's portion of the DoD sponsored Starbase Program, an educational program focusing primarily on 5th grade students from the local communities to motivate them in science, technology, engineering and math. The Pearl Harbor site opened in 2002 and is one of 13 Navy Starbase sites.
