PACIFIC OCEAN (Aug. 1, 2017) Sailors attached to Whidbey Island-class dock landing ship USS Rushmore (LSD 47) load a Phalanx Close-In Weapons System (CIWS). Rushmore is underway off the coast of Southern California participating in a series of qualifications and certifications as part of the basic phase of training in preparation for future operations and deployments.
