Spc. 5 James C. McCloughan stands by his just-unveiled Medal of Honor Hall of Heroes plaque during a ceremony Aug. 1, 2017, at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. McCloughan distinguished himself during 48 hours of close-combat fighting against enemy forces May 13 to 15, 1969. At the time, then-Pfc.
