Soldiers of the Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, based out of Fort Knox, Ky., are led in the singing of the division song by 1st Sgt. Kerry Crudup, a resident of Temple Hills, Md., at Forward Operating Base Salerno, Khowst province, Afghanistan, Feb. 1. The ceremony was held to award the Big Red One soldiers the shoulder sleeve insignia, or combat patch, officially signifying their status as combat veterans who have served in a war zone.
