The U.S. Air Force Commendation Medal rests on the chest of Japan Air Self-Defense Force Col. Shunichi Araki, the Northern Aircraft Control and Warning Wing vice commander, after it was presented at Misawa Air Base, Japan, July 27, 2017. Araki received this medal for his actions during his tenure at Yokota Air Base, Japan, as Operations Support Wing, Air Defense Command vice commander. His accomplishments included being a key asset during the Yokota Friendship Festival, exercise KEEN EDGE and enhancing bilateral partnerships among the U.S. and Japan.
