Brown, a mortarman section sergeant from Marshville, N.C., assigned to Troop C, 1st Squadron, 32nd Cavalry Regiment, Task Force Bandit, observes the impact from Observation Post Mustang in eastern Afghanistan’s Kunar province on Jan. 26. “Mortars are so mobile and quick to fire, its such an asset,” said Brown who is on his third combat tour. “When the Taliban get close to you behind a spur, it’s nice to have.”
