SAN DIEGO (July 25, 2017) Commander, Naval Air Forces Vice Adm. Mike Shoemaker returns honors to sideboys as he arrives aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8). Shoemaker presented the Admiral James H. Flatley Memorial Award to the Makin Island crew for excellence in aviation safety.
