SAN DIEGO (July 25, 2017) Commander, Naval Air Forces Vice Adm. Mike Shoemaker delivers remarks during the presentation of the Admiral James H. Flatley Memorial Award to air and safety department Sailors aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8). Makin Island and the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit received the award for excellence in aviation safety.
