Gary Hartley, a community and government relations director for the Boy Scouts of America, explains the scale of the 2017 National Jamboree to U.S. Air Force Lt. Gen. L. Scott Rice, U.S. Army Lt. Gen. Jeffrey S. Buchanan and U.S. Army Maj. Gen. James A. Hoyer at the Summit Bechtel Reserve near Glen Jean, W.Va., July 25, 2017. More than 30,000 scouts, troop leaders, volunteers and professional staff members, as well as more than 15,000 visitors are expected to attend the 2017 National Jamboree. Approximately 1,200 military members from the Department of Defense. U.S. Coast Guard and National Guard units from various states, are providing logistical support for the event.
