U.S. Navy Petty Officer 1st Class Juan F. Coello, an Aviation Boatswain's Mate (Handling) assigned to the amphibious assault ship USS Wasp (LHD-1), signals an AV-8B Harrier pilot, assigned to Marine Attack Squadron (VMA) 231, on the flight deck of the Wasp, July 16, 2017. VMA-231 assisted the Wasp in acquiring flight certifications in preparation for their upcoming homeport shift to Sasebo, Japan where they are slated to relieve the USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD 6) in the 7th Fleet area of operations.
