U.S. Army Pfc. Nathan Troxell, assigned to B Company, 1-502nd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), operates an M240L machine gun at Fort Bliss, Texas, July 13, 2017. NIE 17.2 is an annual exercise that provides a test-bed for emerging concepts and capabilities in an operationally realistic and rigorous environment. The evaluation will continue to assess the Army’s tactical network baseline while also introducing new systems. This NIE is different from past events, due to participation by the 2nd Infantry Brigade Combat Team of the 101st Airborne (Air Assault) Division. This will allow the Army to better inform and enhance Army Readiness efforts, highlighting how a highly expeditionary light infantry unit uses network capability for its mission objectives.
