Ensign Lauren Symmes, assigned to USS Mesa Verde (LPD 19), defends herself against Marines assigned to Light Armored Reconnaissance Company, Battalion Landing Team, 3rd Battalion 6th Marines, while exposed to oleoresin capsicum during the confidence course portion of a non-lethal training class aboard the San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock ship July 7, 2017.
