Petty Officer 3rd Class Alexander Longo, a quartermaster from Trenton, N.J., hoists the code hotel signal flags during sea and anchor detail on the aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76). Quartermasters use a flag or series of flags for visual signaling to other ships.
