Amy Phan is a lance corporal in the United States Marine Corps. At 19, she enlisted as a combat photographer from her home near Cottage Grove, Minnesota, after graduating from Park High School in 2015. She is currently attached to the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit aboard the USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD 6), underway in the Pacific Ocean. The Marines and Sailors of the 31st MEU specialize in a variety of combat arms and combat-enabling specialties. The 31st MEU regularly patrols the Indo-Asia-Pacific region aboard the Navy vessels of the Bonhomme Richard Expeditionary Strike Group. The 31st MEU partners with the Navy’s Amphibious Squadron 11 to form the amphibious component of the BHR ESG. The 31st MEU and PHIBRON 11 combine to provide a cohesive blue-green team capable of accomplishing a variety of missions across the Indo-Asia-Pacific region.
