31st Marine Expeditionary Unit       

Aric Kennedy is a lance corporal in the United States Marine Corps. At 18, he enlisted as a mortarman from his home near Anchorage, Alaska after graduating from East Anchorage High School in 2015. He is currently assigned to Weapons Company of Battlion Landing Team, 3rd Battalion, 5th Marines. BLT 3/5 forms the Ground Combat Element of the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, currently aboard the USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD 6), underway in the Pacific Ocean. The Marines and Sailors of the 31st MEU specilize in a variety of combat arms and combat enabling specialties. The 31st MEU regularly patrols the Indo-Asia-Pacific region aboard the Navy vessels of the Bonhomme Richard Expeditionary Strike Group. The 31st MEU partners with the Navy’s Amphibious Squadron 11 to form the amphibious component of the BHR ESG. The 31st MEU and PHIBRON 11 combine to provide a cohesive blue-green team capable of accomplishing a variety of missions across the Indo-Asia-Pacific region.
