Texas Army National Guard Soldiers of the Special Operations Detachment-Africa (SOD-A), 71st Troop Command, lept out of a Sikorsky UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter during a parachute operations training event at Joint Base San Antonio Recreation Park in Lake Canyon, TX, June 24,2017. The SOD-A Soldiers also conducted drop zone operations, manned Zodiac boats, and provided medical coverage. The planning, coordination, and execution of parachute operations training events allows the SOD-A to maintain airborne proficiency and ensures the SOD-A is always ready to respond to foriegn and domestic threats.
