Col. Michael Getchell, the commander of 4th Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division, pins Sgt. Randy French, a combat engineer with 38th Engineer Company, 2nd Battalion, 23rd Infantry Regiment, with the Purple Heart during a ceremony at the company’s headquarters Dec. 14. French received the award for a wound to his leg that occurred in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2008.
