Thirteen soldiers from the 262nd Engineer Company (Horizontal) reconstruct an airfield, which years of neglect and abuse rendered unserviceable at the Deepwoods Trainig Site near Old Town, June 15-22, 2017. Soldiers tore up varying depths of broken asphalt, anywhere from one to seven inches that lay across the 50-year-old airfield. They pushed all the material to one end then graded and smoothed the soil underneath so that the aviation units can utilize it for training purposes again. The project benefitted Soldiers by allowing them to see a project through to completion. "This lets us see the whole phase of a project verses just coming out here for a drill weekend and only completing 20% of a project and never really knowing all the stages," said Cpl. Colby Wood, a heavy construction equipment operator with the 262nd Engineer Company (Horizontal). "Equipment time is equipment time no matter what, but it helps when we can start a project and finish a project."
