U.S. Air Force Command Chief Master Sgt. Michael Du, of Walnut, Calif., accepts a farewell gift from Lt. Col. Reid Matsuda, commander of the 624th Civil Engineer Squadron's Airmen, during his retirement ceremony at the Historic Hickam Officers Club, Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii, Feb. 11, 2017. The gift is a replica of one of the bullet-hole markings, or pockmark, caused by bomb shrapnel from the Pacific Air Forces Headquarters building. The PACAF building was targeted during the Imperial Japanese attack on Oahu December 7, 1941. Master Sgt. Ronald Wabinga, a member of the 624th CES, spends his free time making farewell gifts to help people remember Hawaii and the men and women who gave their lives for their country.
