U.S. Army Maj. Bobbie Mayes of Lawrenceburg, Ky., Kentucky Agribusiness Development Team women’s empowerment coordinator, greets one of the teachers from the Agency for Building a New Afghanistan during a visit to the Parwan Directors of Women’s Affairs Dec. 14. Mayes visited the DOWA to discuss a project to give 25 women a two-day class on bees. Once the women complete the class, they will receive a hive and bees in hopes to help them build additional income.
