Seaman Apprentice Tanesia M. Cooper, from Syracuse, N.Y., prepares to throw the heaving ball to the pier as the aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan pulls into its homeport of San Diego. The heaving ball is used so the mooring line can be pulled across the water in between the pier and the ship.
