170615-N-UX013-1280 PHILIPPINE SEA (June 15, 2017) Marines assigned to the Amphibious Recon Platoon (ARP), attached to the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit and embarked on the amphibious assault ship USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD 6), conduct a visit, board, search and seizure (VBSS) exercise on the amphibious dock landing ship USS Ashland (LSD 48). Ashland crewmembers act out combatant roles as part of the VBSS training evolutions. Ashland, part of the Bonhomme Richard Expeditionary Strike Group, is operating in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region to enhance partnerships and be a ready-response force for any type of contingency.
