U.S. Marines, U.S. Sailors and Master Labor Contractors with Headquarters and Headquarters Squadron (H&HS) fuels division prepare to push a fuel line during a proof of concept for hot refueling at Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni, Japan, June 20, 2017. The proof of concept tested for safety and ensured all equipment functioned properly. Pending approval from the air station’s commanding officer and the Defense Logistics Agency, the rebuilt hot refuel pits will allow aircraft to rapidly refuel without powering down their engines, which increases operational readiness.
