    31st Marine Expeditionary Unit

Marines with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit’s Amphibious Reconnaissance Platoon (ARP), swim toward a Combat Rubber Raiding Craft (CRRC) in the Pacific Ocean during helocast training, June 15, 2017. Helocast is a specialty of the 31st MEU’s ARP. During helocast, a CRRC is launched from the rear of a rotary-wing aircraft, followed by Marines who jump from the aircraft and board the CRRC to perform amphibious reconnaissance missions. The 31st MEU partners with the Navy’s Amphibious Squadron 11 to form the amphibious component of the Bonhomme Richard Expeditionary Strike Group. The 31st MEU and PHIBRON 11 combine to provide a cohesive blue-green team capable of accomplishing a variety of missions across the Indo-Asia-Pacific region. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Lance Cpl.
