Lt. Col. Colby Wyatt, commander of the 1st Battalion, 179th Infantry Regiment, 45th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, discusses the progress the Joint Multinational Training Group-Ukraine is making toward establishing a NATO compliant combat training center in Ukraine with students from the University of New Haven during the students’ visit to the Yavoriv CTC on the International Peacekeeping and Security Center, near Yavoriv, Ukraine on June 14.
The trip was part of the students’ studies regarding the Eastern Front during World War II and the current conflict in Ukraine. U.S., Polish, Lithuanian, and Ukrainian representatives from the JMTG-U, an international coalition dedicated to professionalizing the Ukrainian army, briefed the students on military cooperation at the Yavoriv CTC, Ukraine’s first modern training center modeled on NATO standards.
