U.S. Air Force Col. R Scott Jobe, 35th Fighter WIng commander, administered a change of command ceremony between Col. Leigh Swanson, 35th Medical Group outgoing commander, and Col. Terence Cunningham IV, 35th MDG incoming commander, at Misawa Air Base, Japan, June 6, 2017. Today, the primary purpose of the change of command is to allow subordinates to witness the formal transfer of total responsibility, authority and accountability from one officer to another.
