U.S. Forces-Iraq Deputy Commanding General of Operations Lt. Gen. Robert W. Cone presents the Silver Star Medal to Sgt. 1st Class Kristopher Verrett, platoon sergeant, 2nd Platoon, Company B, 1st Battalion, 27th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Advise and Assist Brigade, 25th Infantry Division, during a ceremony at Contingency Operating Base Speicher, Iraq, Dec. 2, 2010. Verrett, who earned the medal for valorous actions during an enemy attack on his platoon Sept. 7, said he believes his soldiers are far more deserving of the award, and deserve the credit for their actions on that day.
