U.S. Air Force Col. Leigh Swanson, 35th Medical Group commander, administered a change of command ceremony between Col. Zoya Lee-Zerkel, 35th Medical Support Squadron outgoing commander, and Lt. Col. Lynne Bussie, 35th MDSS incoming commander, at Misawa Air Base, Japan, June 6, 2017. Today, the primary purpose of the change of command is to allow subordinates to witness the formal transfer of total responsibility, authority and accountability from one officer to another.
