Photos of Pfc. Herbert A. Grue along with a hand-written note sent to the family announcing his death in 1942 are on display at the home of his granddaughter Laura Ekstrom in Birchwood, Wisconsin. Ekstrom and her family were presented with the six awards earned by Grue who was killed while serving in the Pacific with the 22nd Portable Hospital unit.
