"The Rockpile" sits underneath the Milkyway on the night of a new moon outside of Fort Irwin, California, May 26th, 2017. The boulders bear the painted insignias of units who have completed their rotations at the National Training Center. The 155th Armored Brigade Combat Team, Mississippi Army National Guard, moved into the "sand box" just a few miles from this location, kicking off their rotation. This image was created using 3 stacked long exposure photographs. (Mississippi National Guard photo-illustration by Staff Sgt. Jason (Tim) Morgan, 102d Public Affairs Detachment)
