"The Rockpile" sits underneath the Milkyway on the night of a new moon outside of Fort Irwin, California, May 26th, 2017. The boulders bear the painted insignias of units who have completed their rotations at the National Training Center. The 155th Armored Brigade Combat Team, Mississippi Army National Guard, moved into the "the box" just a few miles from this location, kicking off their rotation.
