A Marine goes through a red cell donation at the station chapel for the Red Cross aboard Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort, May 17. During a red cell donation instead of giving a pint of red cells, platelets, and plasma, donors give a pint of just red cells.
Nearly 7,000 units of platelets and 10,000 units of plasma are needed daily in the U.S. The Marine is with Headquarters and Headquarters Squadron, MCAS Beaufort.
