U.S. Marine Corps Maj. John Sax, right, aviation majors monitor, Manpower and Reserve Affairs (M&RA), is awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Medal for Heroism by Lt.Gen. Mark Brilakis, deputy commandant, M&RA, at the Marsh Center, Marine Corps Base Quantico, Va., May 1, 2017. Sax was awarded the medal for his heroic actions in 2014; while Sax was aboard an Osprey flying to Oahu, Hawaii, the aircraft caught fire after coming to a hard landing with 22 military members on board, Sax's actions helped save many of the Marines lives.
