Skateboards, bicycles, scooters, and inline skates are all allowed aboard Marine Corps Logistics Base Barstow, Calif., but the user must be wearing the proper personal protective equipment. Marine Corps police officials said at a minimum a helmet is required when riding a bicycle. Various pads may also be required when operating a skateboard, scooter or inline skates. It pays to know what you need to keep safe. The base order that covers operating these nonmotorized devices (BO 5100.11H) is designed to keep everyone safe, not to punish them.
