Fort McCoy community remembers Holocaust during Days of Remembrance event

Lt. Col. Arieyeh J. Austin, commander of the 1st Battalion, 310th Brigade Engineer Battalion, provides opening remarks during the installation observance of the Holocaust Days of Remembrance on April 24, 2017, at Fort McCoy, Wis. Austin’s unit served as the lead unit to organize the event. The Holocaust Days of Remembrance week was observed from April 23–30 and Holocaust Remembrance Day was April 24. Congress established the Days of Remembrance as the nation’s annual commemoration of the Holocaust. Each year state and local governments, military bases, workplaces, schools, religious organizations, and civic centers host observances and remembrance activities for their communities.
