Chief Warrant Officer 3 Kenneth Morris of Mahomet, Illinois, laughs heartily after Maj. Gen. Michael Zerbonia, the Assistant Adjutant General – Army of the Illinois National Guard and the Commander of the Illinois Army National Guard, tells him that now that he is retired he needs to marry his long-time partner, Paula Wolfe. The general’s remarks were during Morris’ retirement ceremony on May 6, 2017 at the Illinois State Military Museum in Springfield, Illinois. Morris retired from the Illinois National Guard with more than 30 years of service including a combat tour to Afghanistan from 2008 to 2009 with the Illinois Army National Guard’s 33rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team.
