DARWIN, Australia – U.S. Marine Lance Cpl. Robert Kernaghan, mortar man, 3rd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, Marine Rotational Force Darwin (MRF-D), poses for a portrait during patrol training, May 3, 2017. This is Kernaghan’s, who is a 21 year-old from Stephenville, Texas, first deployment. He joined the Marine Corps in 2015, following a long lineage of family members that have devoted their life to military service. Kernaghan said, “I’m excited to share what I know, and learn what I don’t from the Australians. We’ve only been here a few weeks and they feel like family.” During this rotation of MRF-D Marines will focus on training, exercising and operating with the Australian Defence Force.
