Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam Solar Facility Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

170428-N-ON468-0127 WAIPIO PENINSULA, HI (April 28, 2017) Rear Adm. John Korka, commander, Navy Facilities Engineering Command Pacific, and Rear Adm. John Fuller, commander, Navy Region Hawaii and commander, Naval Surface Group Middle Pacific, participate in a Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam (JBPHH) Solar Facility Ribbon Cutting Ceremony. The photovoltaic ground mounted system is located on JBPHH's Waipaio Peninsula and it began commercial operation on February 23, 2017. The project contributes to the Department of the Navy's diverse energy portfolio, ensuring more secure and resilient operations at JBPHH. It also shows the continued partnership with the state of Hawaii, following last year's Memorandum of Understanding between the DON and the state, which coordinated goals and strengthened the partnership between both organizations in the pursuit of additional renewable energy in the state of Hawaii.
