TAURAMA, Papua New Guinea (April 18, 2017) Joel F. Maybury, deputy chief of mission, U.S. Embassy Port Moresby, greets Col. Siale F. Diro, Chief of Force Preparation, Papua New Guinea Defense Force, prior to the closing ceremony of a military tactics exchange conducted between U.S. Marines and Sailors with the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) and Papua New Guinea Defense Force service members at Taurama Barracks, as part of a theater security cooperation (TSC) engagement, April 18. Taking place during the Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group/11th MEU’s deployment, the TSC allows the U.S. to work with a partner nation to build relationships and mutual military capacity that supports security and stability in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region.
