170411-N-EB034-055 U.S. 5TH FLEET AREA OF OPERATIONS (April 11, 2017) Commanding officer of the Royal Navy frigate HMS Monmouth, Cdr. Ian Feasey, and commodore of Amphibious Squadron 8, Captain Larry Legree pose for a photo aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Bataan (LHD 5) during exercise Alligator Dagger 17. The exercise provides an opportunity to enhance multilateral capabilities in critical mission sets inherent to the U.S. Navy-Marine Corps, as well as partners and allies in the region. Bataan and its ready group, are deployed to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations in support of maritime security operations designed to reassure allies and partners, and preserve the freedom of navigation and the free flow of commerce in the region.
