PACIFIC OCEAN (April 13, 2017) The Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Howard (DDG 83) steams alongside the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Shoup (DDG 86) as both ships are underway conducting a composite training unit exercise (COMPTUEX) with the Nimitz Carrier Strike Group in preparation for an upcoming deployment. COMPTUEX tests the mission readiness of the strike group's assets through simulated real-world scenarios and their ability to perform as an integrated unit.
